Don't fit, but we already knew that. Rotated tires on both trucks yesterday, for fun I mounted up the Cruiser's tires to the runner. Now I know why you guys vulture those FZJ80 rims, they really do look nice on a Runner! I tried to take it for a spin, but couldn't even turn out of the driveway.. ah well. Was good for a picture though!

Dang, those look big on that Runner. I am starting to think they look small on mine.

 

what would you need to do to make those 295s work? (lift, shaved arms, wheel spacer etc...)

 

Lift, mainly. Couldn't turn the wheels more than 15° in either direction. Front would hit the bumper, back would hit the inside of the fender. Made me question 285's even fitting at stock height.

It's funny how your perception of tires changes, when you first get them it's like "dang these are huge!" then after a while they start to look small..

 

I have all of these except wheel spacers, I have 4" BS wheels though.

 

You had to shave your A-ARMS, even with 4" B.S?, that one guy on here was running 305/70s with no rubbing with a 4" lift

help me out guys, im new to all this. what exactly do the numbers on the sidewall of a tire mean? right now i just have whatever came on the truck when i bought it i think 265 or something, i want some bfg all terrains but i dont want a lift quite yet, whats the biggest i could get without anything hitting or rubbing

 

You probably have 265/70R16 or something like that. The "265" is the width of the tire from in millimeters; the "70" is the aspect ratio of the tire; the R16 is the wheel diameter in inches.

You should be able to fit a 265/75R16 BFG A/T but I think you may get some rubbing at full steering lock.

 

P265/70R16 means you have a passenger tire, 265 mm wide, sidewall height is 70% of the treadwidth and the rim is 16". If you boil all that down you are basically running a 31" tire with 16" rims. The largest I would run without any mods would be a P265/75R16 which is a 32" tire but some have even claimed to get P285/75R16 (33" tire) on there with no lift. Most I would do is 32" to ensure you won't rub.

 

I agree that the 265/75R16 tire should fit with no rubbing (that is what I have run for 66K miles). It will cause speedometer/odometer error of about 3% (ie. indicated 60 mph is actually 62 mph). This shouldn't be much of an issue though.

Seems to me that if it doesn't fit with a stock suspension it won't fit under compression with a suspension lift. Things that make a tire fit are fender trimming, lowering bump stops, wheel back spacing, body lift, etc. Suspension lift is great, I did it. But if the tire doesn't fit without it, it won't fit while wheeling.
