Another Custom Tube Bumper

Bored at work today. So I thought I would finish my Bumper Build page.

Heres the final result.

First Thing I did was bring the DOM Tube to my buddy that works at a muffler shop and had 4 Mandrel 90Degree bends done for a 12pack of beer (4 of which I drank) .
Next I started to mock up where I wanted everything to sit.

With that all layed out it was time to figure out how to attached the tube to the frame. This are the pieces I came up with after many pieces of cardboard. The smaller pieces of tube are to attach the upper and lower tubes together, they are simply fish eye notched with a grinder

Bogger Welds (No gas so lots of grinding)

Total cost for Steel and Beer was under $200.00 Canadian.

Only pic thats missing is where I tie the Sides of the bumper into the frame. for side impact stregth.

More pics on my website. http://www.mudrunner.ca

Looks good. I strongly sugest bracing the wrap arounds to the frame. Those plate brakets will flex alot, when you land the wrap arounds on trees and stuff. My allpro bumper has crushed the quarter more than once, before I braced it.

Looks sweet, Mike. I'm hoping with a bit of tax return money I can get started on my sliders and bumper... But I'm not holding my breath... Anyway, looks great, amigo.

I started a thread a couple of weeks ago regarding a 'home build' bumper like this . Do you have the plans for this to pass on , or was it just a build as you go project ?

You have the only 2nd gen. rear tube bumper that I like. The tread plate covers are awsome.

Build as you go.... 12 feet DOM, 12 Inches of reciever bar. Those two piece's of flat stock and away you go. It really is pretty easy once you get at it.

Like a said Get the Bends done at a muffler shop and start figuring things out.

Very nice. It looks like the All Pro bumper only beefier and more than $100 less. Too bad you didn't draw up some plans.
