Okay, so I am trying to get rid of my 1993 EX500. Female owner and rider, so it wasn't run hard. But the bad thing is. . . is that I laid her down so all of the plastic is scratched. Other than that it's an awesome bike with clean title. It has had all of it's maintenece done by myself, and my dad. The bike will start right up, and is rideable, it's just that my parnets don't want me on another one (but what they don't know is that I'm gonna get another bike this spring) but anyway. I will try and have pics up soon. It had 187,000 miles on it and I am trying to get atleast 1,400.00 for her. If you're not worried about cosmetic and looking for a beginner bike this is the one. It's located in Maryland and perfer pick up if someone wants to buy it, I really don't wanna know how much it would cost to ship a bike. But I guess if anyone out there is interested let me know.

187K miles on a Kaw, is like 187K on a Yota, they run forever.

if this was closer, id get get for for her, i want the 06 Kaw. 636 but gonna finish the 4runner first (like it will "ever" be finished.lol)

 

i dont know... i know it will run forever... Im a bike mechanic.. but ive never seen a bike with 187k besides goldwings and bmws...never a kawi

Yea thats ture a Kawa is like a Yota run for ever as long as it's taken care of. Yea I'm lookin at the GSXR 750 or the new Kawa ninja 650 or the Kawa 636. I can't wait to be back out there ridin, only a few more months left. YEAH

 

you should still be riding... weve had a bunch of nice days out here on the east coast... ive been riding 4-5 days a week yet... im putting about 15k on my bike a year

p.s. go with the gsxr 750.. the bike feels great. its balanced very very well.

 

Well I laid it down in September and with the season almost over I jsut parked her, and I am waiting to buy antoher one I was gonna fix it but I'd rather have a new one with more power.

hey its been awhile since ive been in the bike world, but are the newer bike like the old ones, in that the cylinders are the same in size, in the 750s and 600s, with the 600s haveing a thicker sleave for a smaller piston ? i was talk back when i had my 93 GSXR600 i could take out the cylinder sleave and replace it with the 750 sleave and piston, making it a 750. cheaper insurance, and 600 marking.. is this still true ?

ric- no, the engines changed completely... now 90% of the engines are cast verses using sleeves. Some do, but to save weight and space they changed. Most of the bikes 600, 750 and 1000 put out basically the same power to weight ratio. its where that power is used thats different. The 1000s have alot more top end power, while the 600s are quicker off the line. The 750s are in the middle. But the new yamaha r6 is different cause it revs to 17,500 rpms (which is insane) so it takes off, and keeps going, and going... All of the new sport bikes by the top 4 (kawasaki, yamaha, suzuki, and honda) are hella fast. When people say one bike is faster than another: A, theyre talking about 3-5 mph diffnerece at close to 200 mph. but B: you can be on the fastest bike, but if you dont know how to ride it, a guy on a much "slower" bike will pass you 10 times over.

The only thing I don't like about the 750 and 636. Is that the way they are made makes me feel like I am being forced to ride over the tank always layin down, plus the seat is so high I can't flat foot the bike when I'm on it, even if it was lowered I'm still leaning to one side to flat foot it. And to me if I can't handle the bike just sittin on it I don't wanna try out on the road, that's when I went looking at the new Kawa 650 because you can sit up like my old one or lay down plus I luv the way it looks and rides, it's got that nacked look w/out all of the plastic eveywhere it's got just enough. Check her out and tell me you don't like it . . .

No, dont get me wrong, i really like the new 650... a super comfy bike, and if a bike is comfortable, youll ride it. I agree with you on the 636 and 750 as far as riding stance goes. I ride a triumph sprint rs(2001) which is considered a sport tourer. The bike looks like a sport bike, but the seat is lower, handlebars higher, and the pegs are further forward. I love the bike. I did some modifications to the suspension and added alot of stuff( saddle bags, passenger back rest, and gps) which can all be removed super fast. I can ride it allllllll day without a pain... thats a lot more than can be said for the sport bikes. If youre not looking for a "pure" sport bike, than I would def. go for the 650. im alittle leary about going with the first year produciton of a model so make sure you get all the warrenty goodies. I sat on the bike down in DC for the international bike show and the thing sits super nice and feels lite.

 

Is it the square headlight model? I like more of a classic bike myself, round headlight, teardrop tank, minimal plastic. I wouldn't be surprised if my 83 Kawa Spectre had 187K on the odo...impossible to tell.

Yea it's the square headlight and little palstic on it, and it's that classic teal, white and purple stripe on it,t aht you always see when researching the EX. I hope to have pics soon just trying to get an idea of anybody really wants her. It was an awesome bike I really want to keep it and get a new one and have 2 so then I can have my b/f learn how to ride and not worry about really messing her up but I can't afford to have 2 so she's got to go and I want to get the Kawa 650. Then we can all meet up and go ridin some time. But someone please buy it's funding for my new one. Doesn't everyone wanna see me on a new bike. just kidding no pressure here. anyway I guess just let me know whenever
