**Piston Slap** Still runs great, but it's there.

1988 4Runner. 85k original miles. 2nd owner. $1299 OBO!

Sadly just installed (Professionally) in last couple hundred miles:

<> Timing chain and related
<> New clutch kit installed
<> Water Pump and hoses
<> Engine Mounts
<> Fuel Filter/Air Filter/Etc.
<> 4 Brand Spanking New, less than 10 miles, BFG TA (KO) tires.
<> Marlin Crawler Shifter Seat
<> Optima 34R
<> O2 sensor
<> Front/Rear Brakes
<> Lots of other stuff

The body is in good shape, 4wd great, actually runs pretty dang good, no overheating,etc. However, there is a "diesel" sound at accel and decel. Couple shops say its rod bearing or piston slap. I bought this vehicle to take overseas. I'm out of time to fix her or I would do just that, but that's not an option for me.

If you're looking for a decent 4runner, have the time or just need to canabalize it, its a good deal. Just let me know.

Saw this on Craigslist, nice truck. Couple of questions:

-Which Engine?
-Auto or manual
-Does it pass emissions?
-VA Inspection good until when?
-Where exactly in NoVA?

- 5 Speed
- Passed NJ Emissions/Inspection on 10/2005 prior to purchase. Vehicle now titled/registered in Texas (Military) so no VA tags. Had Bill Page Toyota put new 02 sensor last Wednesday. They said truck was fine. Go figure.

Crap... Why are the good deals so far away and when I am buying a ring!

 

Looks like a great 4runner. What condition is the interior in? Does it have carpet? Cloth or vinyl seats?

Interior is in good shape - there is a tear on the driver's seat and a small crack on the dash around the coin tray. The console, etc., is in good shape - no cracks or chips that I see. I'll try and get photos this afternoon. The entire truck is vinyl, no carpet.
