rev limiter on 22re?

does anyone know if there is a rev limiter on the 22re? cuz i don't want to hit it while i'm hitting my nitrous. that would be bad.

Actually, better to hit it than not have one and overrev the motor!

I don't know - mine was 22R (not fuel injected). I don't think it had one (until I put the Jacobs ignition in anyways)

Yes there is a rev limiter, its a few hundred rpms above the redline. Why would it be bad to hit the rev limiter?

never heard of any 22R or 22RE having a rev limiter. now, my mutant 20R/22R engine will hit 8000RPMs when i mash it in neutral, but doesn't make much power above 6k

22RE + nitrous + 6000 rpm = WTF? Why? You just like to pick up parts from all over the highway?

6000 is a pretty safe speed for these engines, at least in race form. not cranking out the most power at that speed though....

I came close to hitting the redline on my old 4runner by accident. I don't believe they have on.

it would be bad to hit a rev limiter while spraying nitrous, which i now have, because it would backfire up front instead of out back and blow the nozzle for the nitrous apart

I think he was saying it might be better to do that than go into the red with Nitrous and blowing the whole engine. The 22re is made to be redlined, especially with nitrous running threw it.
