Water pump gasket?

Just got my new water pump for my 3.4L 97 4runner from Toyota of Dallas. I read a few of the guides and looked at the toyota FSM for its replacement and they all say it needs a FIPG or Grey RTV sealant.

So I open the box for the water pump and low and behold it comes with a metal/rubber gasket or it. Looks just like a head gasket. Is this new or do I use that gasket and the FIPG stuff?

I forgot about this post...

I used the new metal gasket that it came with. When I compared the new pump to the old pump, the new pump does not have the groove that the old one has for the sealant. Anyways, 100 miles later no leaks and the engine is a lot more quiet now with the new pulleys and pump.

Right... Toyota changed the design of the flange on the pump. Like you found, the new ones need a gasket, the old ones use FIPG.
