hey everyone just found this site and it looks awsome. this is my first post so sry if i mess it up. I am looking to get the total chaos gen 2 kit for my 91 4runner 4x4 and wanted to hear some comments about it. also what should i do to the rear end. should i extend the 4link or cut it off and go leaf spring. so if neone has ne ideas or comments let me know and i would really appreciate it.

First off, welcome to YotaTech and plan to lose some weight in the wallet area... Look at Scottz 's rig, his has a heim-jointed 3-link rear, long travel front, and looks awesome. Simply search his name and you should come across it.

 

Are you going to use it for high speed, or trails and rocks. Also I forget how much lift does that kit give you. I wouldnt lift the coil setup more than about 2-3in, bc then you have to do some work with the uppers and the panhard and the sway bar at least.
Basically I cant wait til I get my sas done with leafs all around on my 92 runner, im sick of the coils

 

I'm running the Gen II caddy kit on my '87 4runner. I've only had the kit on my truck sice August, butI absolutly love the kit. It rides really smooth on and off road.

 

Keep in mind there is also JD fabrication and ESB FAbrications as well....

My truck....kit works and holds up badass...

If you want to run coilovers cheap.....Chaos is the way...hands down. Great price.

If you can't afford it all at once, You can get the JD kit lie I did. I ran torsion bars for a year and just upgraded to coilovers. The beefier lower arms are neat too.

As far as ESB goes, they are an option, but I have heard of quality issues. It's all heresay, but that's what I know.

 

ya i talked to mike a esb and got prices and overall total chaos would be cheaper plus they said i would half to get and engine cage with the esb kit. for the rear i dont want to get bigger coils cause they suck. 3 link is pretty expensive so i might go leaf. thne get fiberwerx custom kit.

Basically any kit with coilovers will need an engine cage, especially if you use the thing.

 

did u run 33 or 31 inch tires when u got ur kit?

 

I've always had 33's, but when I swicthed to long travel, I switched to 33x10.50

I always felt that teh 33x12.50 was too much for my motor even with gearing. The narrower tire seems quicker on the streets and I got an extra 0.5-1.0 mpg. Plus they're cheaper and rub alot less.

With my glass I could probably clear 35's but that would definitely be too much for my 22re.

31's and long travel with stock fenders would probably be ok. Toyota 4x or Pinnacle might know.

 

I had 33x10(255/85/15) before I had my kit. I would say if you wanted to keep the stock fenders you would have to get some rims with a lot of backspacing.

Here is a pic of a 4x4 with the TC caddy kit and I believe 31's. The actual size is 325/60/15. Sorry the pic is so crappy, but its all I could find.
