I'm nearly official! Buying 4runner today.
Looks like I'll be an official Toyota owner in a few hours or so! I'm buying a 1996 4runner sr5 4x4 with 95k miles. My father checked it out this morning (car is in San Diego, I'm in Colorado) and he loves it. He's very happy with it and will be taking it to the mechanic to get it checked out later.
The guy selling it bought a new 4runner so he's getting rid of the old one. This is the one that has the auto transmission but after much thought I'm actually looking forward to having one again and if I end up disappointed I'll sell the truck and probably still come out ahead. The 4runner has brush guards, step rails, roof rack, 10 disc cd changer, bug shield, sunroof, tinted windows, timing belt changed at 55k miles, new shocks two years ago, no service recalls according to toyota, and passed california emissions (so it will pass in colorado too).
I'm very excited but a little bit stressed as I get all the loan information taken care of. I'll be heading out to california in a few weeks to pick it up and drive it home.

Thanks! I'm pretty excited that I'll have something more reliable than my Mitsubishi to drive around. I'm really looking forward to heading deep into the South Platte again!

It also had a bunch of mods and was first run at Bandimere in '96 running 15.7 bone stock and then when it was sold it was running 13.2s up here.(12.5s in Houston)
I do miss it after all the $$$,blood, sweat and tears over 8 years and 378 passes down the 1/4 mile but with the 4Runner I stay out of trouble and I rarely have to lift the hood which means I have alot more money in the bank then I did before.

I'm official! My dad has the 4runner parked at his place in San Diego now and has already fallen in love with it. It might be hard to get it away from him. 8)
Not related to Toyota except by being very excited to have a toyota now:
I never even made it to Bandi. I've got so many parts that I never found time to put on the gsx. All the pieces for a 3" turbo-back exhaust, a supra intercooler, greddy profec-b, electronic fp guage, turbo timer, ported exhaust manifold, oil pressure and coolant temp gauges (I'll probably put those two on the new runner), and an eprom ecu are all just sitting around. I figured I'd head up to bandi once I got all that done and it just never happened. The only reason I got the FP Big28 on was that damn little coolant line that runs behind the turbo and is impossible to remove with the turbo on broke, so it seemed like a good time to put the newer turbo and ported 02 housing on. Were you on CoDSM too? That would make at least three of us here now if you were.
I think I'm going to enjoy not having to lift the hood much though.
