Under the hood light?

Anyone know where or if I can buy a good under the hood light? Years ago they all came with one and some were really great like the one's Chevey had that came on a spool and the little light was magnetized and would reach all the way to the back of the truck. Seen a couple like that on Ebay but they really look like junk, bad shape.
I'm bidding on one now that is stationary under the hood but works on a mercury switch, comes on when you open the hood. Sure wish someone made a good one that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.Mike

Jeep cherokee had one with the wind up spool. Maybe a wrecking yard?

I found a little magnet mount 12V trouble light with a spooled cord at my local hardware store. Forget the brand, but it is a yellow body w/ black trim. I think it was around $15 or so.

My new(back then) 89 4x4 Suburban had one and it's my understanding that other Chevey trucks had them also.It seems to me that I remember one in my Dodge power wagon too. It was really well built and for the 12 years I had that truck it worked perfect, never replaced the bulb.
I'm going up the mountain to our local salvage yard this morning and see If they have one. Yoda said that jeep had them too.
I'm hoping to find two of them, one for under the hood and one to mount in my truck bed tool box.

Thanks for the info on the one you found 4-crawler. Mike

Forgot to mention.... with the price of reg gas being $2.70 here I may not need any lights anyway! Now the price of everything else is going out of site too. Guess I can sit in the driveway and "pretend" that I'm out on the trail running these mountains. Mike

Just got back from the salvage yard and no luck.
Bratik, That is just the light I was looking for. I'm going to try some jeep parts sites and see If I have any luck with that, Thanks, Mike

Here is the one I have:

Cord pulls out of the housing, maybe 10-20' long and winds up using the bezel around the lens to spool it in:

they have them at wallmart for about $5 and I have seen them time to time at harbor freight for $2. They are exactly the same, as I own both - one for each car.

Thanks guy's. It's 55 miles for me to go to Wal Mart, ACE or Harbaor frieght. I checked Wal Mart and they don't list it on line. I did find one on line at ACE so I ordered it. It was around $11.00 and $4.50 for shipping. With the price of gas being $2.70 a gal and knowing that I would have to drive 110 miles round trip I figure I'm stll ahead of the game, Lol. Thanks for all your help guy's, Mike

I think the logo on the light is "CA" for Custom Accessories or something like that. I can supply them for about $10 plus shipping.

The one I have is self winding, you don't have to do anything... Wonder if that one is still around new?

Does that light have an on/off switch? They don't give much detail from the web site where I ordered mine. Mike
