i also went 87 couple of days ago. gas prices are ridiculous nowadays. i usually run 89 at local Shell station. Once in a while i run 91 v power.

87 is all I will buy, anything higher seems like a waste for my 4runner...

yep, no need for anything higher then 87 on a 3.0 v6 with stock compression. These motors run a fairly low compression ( 9:1?) so no need for the extra octane. In fact you should use the lowest octane you can without pinging because the higher octane fuels take longer to burn.

hehehe unless your 3.0 has carbon buildups from sheer age and now pings on anything less than 93 octane...even with the timing set back to 10* BTDC... *sigh* I need a 600CBRR so I can get 50mpg and run 12s on the track...

I wonder if engines sold across the ocean are different because we only have 95 and 98 octane gas around here and recently i filled her up with some bad gas and it pinged like a !$#&%$#". And yes 1liter of 95 gasoline here costs 1.33$

No it's regular fuel , few years ago we had 91 octane for 2stroke motors, but it isn't sold anymore.

bumpin': just curious if you've tried any additives to remove some of that carbon...
