Calling Tokico Trek Master Owners.....

Well, I think I'm getting ready to bite the bullet and order a set of Trek Master shocks/struts and get a Yellow Top Optima to drop in underneath the hood. I've sent a few folks on here emails about the Trek Masters, but if you've got them or know someone who does, please post your (or their) experience with these. Later.

Matt

why? go with the original ones from toyota if you're happy. very cheap and give a decent ride. if you want stiffer, the go to billies. if you want better, then go to OME's.

i had them on an xtracab. very nice shock. much better ride than the bilsteins (on pavement) and still very good off road. they were certainly better than the stock shocks. no more body lean.

I installed the shocks and struts and I'm very happy with them, HUGE difference from my worn out shocks and struts. The strut on the LF was completely gone, there was nothing at all left in it! I can recommend them but I bought my 4Runner with 80,000 miles, I have no idea how they compare to OEM.

I originally switched from stock to billies but found it a little too stiff and changed to the trek masters. The ride improved but I'm trying to figure out if my pp springs are too stiff.

I had them installed for 3 weeks with 2.5 spacers. I hated them. Way too bouncy. I'll send you my fronts for real cheap. Around 25/30 bucks. They have some scratches on them. I will send you pictures if you like.

edit: well I just realized that this is an old thread so you probably don't need them ...

I would vote billies too. I love the ride on them, the rebound quick and handle great!

My truck is now 100% street. I know it will never be car-like ride. But I'd like the nicest ride I can get. It's either these or bils. So I was just looking for feedback from people that had these installed.

I hav ebeen very satisfied with mine now for about 6k miles. Ive had them off road a few times and they are about the same as stock. Reason I bought them is cause you can get them for $200, which is about the cheapest around. They serve me very well on road and slight offroad duties. I don't do serious offroading or anything and have been very pleased with my purchase.

I would not use these if your runner is lifeted (more than an inch) cause stock/soft type shocks just don't last/work well when lifts are in the mix. The Bils are nice (had em on last taco) but they are pricey and stiffer.

Two Questions....

1. Where can you buy the Trek Masters on line?

2. Andy, will the OME shocks/struts offer an improved ride even though I have no other suspension mods? Also, where can they be found online?

OME is twice the price, and people have reported that the OME begins to sag. But thats on lifted trucks with steel bumpers, winches, etc

Sdastg1,
Have you installed the Trek Masters yet? If so, what's the verdict?

no I'm in the process of looking for new shocks .. which is why I bumped this thread. I'm basically between these and new stock ones.

bils would be too stiff
OME ... I can go through two sets of trekmasters and still come out less then the price of these.

I think I'm going to order these within the next month or so when I get ready to do the tundra brake caliper/rotor and do both at the same time

I got mine off ebay for $200 shipped! If you like the way OEM (not OME) stockers ride when still in good shape then you will like the trek masters. They aren'y mushy or anything, just ait no Bils...

Dexter,
Bils will give you much better handling, but they will beat you to death. They are a very firm shock.
