I have just about finished up my SAS. I am getting some bump steer I think because it is a little too high. I think I'm going to switch the front springs to drop it about 3". Here are some pics. I also need to find a place to flex it out better.

Get your caster/camber adjusted. That should help the BS some.

I took it to an alignment shop and everything is good.
Left 5.40 caster
Right 5.43 caster
And on the Dana 44 you can't adjust camber.

After I get it a little lower I should be at about 4 deg caster.

 

Rear took 13hrs and 3 people. Front took 18hrs and 2-3 people. 2 weekends for the swap. I still have to do bumpstops and other random things.
I also had all the parts fabed up and axle built before I started, making the process much quicker.

Was this pic before the alignment? Those front wheels look a bit out of whack...

 

The angle that I was at didn't flex the rear. I forgot to get any pics with the rear flexed, but it can flex pretty well we tried it out last weekend. I need to find someplace that I can actually flex it well, I only had this spot that was close to me in a parking lot to test it. I am running chevy 63's.

The 4Runner drives great, rides smooth, and looks like it came from the factory with the leaf springs. He did a great job on the swap and should be run to take out and test on some real rocks.

 

Aaron, Found out my check engine light was from a faulty speed sensor. My grandpa took it in today and had the tires balanced and said it's driving great. Now I have to wait 2 weeks to drive it

You let your GRANDPA drive it! Did he have a ladder to get in?

No one in my family can even get in mine w/o a boost!

 

I wish I could have seen him trying to get in. He's in pretty good shape and adventerous, he went sky diving for his 70th birthday a couple of years ago. I think he enjoyed driving it more than I thought he would. He helped out every day with the swap I figured the least I could do is let him drive it.

 

Awesome...I wish my g-parents were still around. One reason I moved back home so my boys could be around my parents all the time.
