Check out this runner!

Alright guys, I think I found the 4Runner for me...its on EBay...he said he would be willing to end the auction early if I made him an offer he couldn't refuse. I am thinking about offering him like $13,500 but what do you guys think?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...543549415&rd=1

Lemme know what you guys think!

Fink

I've voiced my opinion, a resounding "no." $13k on that truck. Don't be hasty, deals will come along. Hold out for a locker.

Yup, hold out for a locker.

Plus the guy doesnt know what he's talking about when he says it has "oversized wheels and tires" when those are the same ones that are available on any model 4Runner.

We could be twins!

Very Sweet Fink,

That is IDENTICAL to the one I just bought! Twin! I got mine factory certified from a dealer with 84,000 miles and a 6 month - 6000 mile warranty. $15,000 is just about what I paid (mine was a little higher) and I don't regret it. I had to drive down to Sacramento (from Portland, Oregon) this weekend for my EIT test and it passed the long trip with flying colors, I couldn't be happier!

Good Times – It’s an SR5 so it doesn't come with the locker, but the Highlander package gives it the hood scoop, 16 inch wheels, black bumpers and grill, and some other sweet features.

I say jump on it Fink! It sounds like they really took care of it, mine didn’t come with the rear cargo cover or second set of keys. It looks in great shape!

fink,

13.5k seems like a reasonable price to offer. you will need to get the 90k service done which the big part of it is the timing belt and possibly the thermostat and water pump. that cost me a little less than $520 in LA. think about the other maintenance you might put into it and that will be another $500 or so.

also, see what shape the tires are in. if they can last you 20k, that is more room to save up $$$ for new tires.

bottom line: you will probably put another $2k max into it for maitenance and some minor goodies.

...but if you're good times, tack on another $4k!

I've seen plenty of SR5's and, Highlander editions at that, with lockers on them go through Ebay. A Locker was an option on any V6 4X4 I believe (with an auto, never seen one with a stick), it just was more often thrown on the limiteds than any other.

For comparison, I told him I bought my mint 99 limited 2 years ago with 10k fewer miles for 14,5. It came wit both keys, 0 dings, 0 scratches, perfect leather interior, etc. Nor radio buttons were falling off, etc. You say well, I'm going to replace that anyway. But this is bargaining power.

You can expect a dealer will get 2-3k more than an individual will for the same vehicle, sad as it is, just because they know someone will buy it because it's at a dealer. (No offense, I've bought dealer cars too).

I'm sure there is a world of difference BUT my 2nd generation is paid for
so no payment book - even with a new engine - so there.

Looks like a very nice ride !

I wouldn't pay over $14k for it. I paid $14k for mine last fall with 87k on the odo but mine has the locker and also came with a Yakima basket and limo tint all the way around;the only thing it needed was front brakes.

Yup, the SR5 did indeed have an available locker; with the Highlanders it was with the SX package. That package also came with 4.3 gears, so from his description of 4.1 gears, it most likely does not have a locker.
