I just finished getting the tundra/ome lift done. Its a little stiffer than it used to be obviously but it handles awesome. I cant wait to throw the new sway bars and end links in



Now do you guys have any suggestions to fill those huge gaps? Remember this is the wifes grocery getter so something street oriented. I was thinking maybe the lexus wheels or TRD 20" wheels but those are over $2k.

Are those the OE 15's? Whats your tire size?

You should be really looking at tire size. You can get a 265/75R16 on a 16x8 and it should fill out that wheelwell rather nicely.

Remember, the wheel dosent fill the well, thats left for the tire to do.

 

Those are oe 15's I beleive. I just dont want it to look like I have these big balloon tires on my car. A little bigger rim will help that and add a little style while im at it

 

I have a 26/75/16 (on stock rims) on my stock ride height 99, and it fills the gap, but I don't know that it would do the trick on yours. Might want to go one step up to 33's if they'd fit. I'd go with a 16" wheel, but no larger than a 17.

 

either way you do it, rims or tires, it's still going to jack the ride up the same height, so, really its up to your preference, do you want bling or weekend off-road capability.. a new set of tires will set you back alot less coin then rims&tires

 

I thought the point of having a lift is to get more fender/wheel gap....

 

the point of lifting is to allow larger tires/rims to not rub during articulation or 4 wheeling or any driving conditions

 

That's what I thought also...if you were just going to put some street tires and dubs on there you should have kept it at stock height. Then you wouldn't have affected your handling.

 

37" muds will fill the gap..

 

Also trying to figure out why you lifted it? Stock with large wheels and low profile tires is what you want to keep step in height low and for strictly street usage. Anything you do now to "get rid of the gap", will involve raising step in height even more.

 

I lifted it because the stock stuff had 150k on it and was just handling like crap. This new setup is MUCH better and levels the truck. One of the side effects is a minor lift. So I guess it was a trade off of sorts. I enjoy the added clearance but I dont want to kill the handling again by adding huge tires.

I found a set of the TRD 20" with tires for $1200 . Should I grab em?

 

if 20's are what your after and if in your first post you said they are usually over $2k (assuming without tires), i'd say its a pretty good deal, but as with anything (as long as its not an ebay auction) try to knock it down a couple hundred.

 

I would compare outer diameter (with tires), compared to what you already have. If you put those 20" wheels on and they have low profile tires (likely), they will probably be about the same outer diameter as what you already have, and that would look very odd/wierd, with large rims and large gap.

Most SUVs with "20's" are either lowered or stock height for this reason, you will have to go with giant (way bigger than 20") wheels if you want a proportional look with low profile tires, or you will just have to get some larger tires for your stock wheels.

 

20" wheels w/ BFG AT's might be cool?
