Well, my buddy who was going to weld my sliders on just recently had a baby and doesnt have the time anymore, so I am searching for someone who would be willing to help me out. Is there anyone in the area within a decent driving distance that would be willing to help? Im located in Alameda in the Bay area. Thanks everyone.

 

let me know if you find someone.. i will be needing to get my demello-offroad sliders welded on here in a few days too. maybe someone will be willing to work for beer?

what kind of sliders did you go with?

 

contact roger brown, ( www.4crawler.com ) he is in the bay area and he has doen extensive welding on his truck and also does custom fabrication... he should be able to do it, or at least tell you of someone who can

 

I went with Stubbs sliders. They look great, and Mr. Stubbs is a great guy as well. I will let you know, maybe I will try and get in touch with RB.

I contacted RB, he said he could do it, but he couldn't give me an exact figure on cost until he took a look at it. Im thinkin I might end up going through a friend of a friend type thing. I dont know for sure yet really. Do you know what you plan on doing yet?

 

i am still waiting on the sliders to get here, they SHOULD be here any day now. i contacted a local 4wd shop and they said they could do it for ~$40-$50 per side... but i dunno if i want to pay 100 bucks to get them installed. i am going to make some other calls today and see what other quotes i can get.

 

my sliders came in today. so now the hunt for someone willing to help weld them on has heated up. i am hoping to get them on asap and defently by the time i go wheeling/camping on the 29th. anyone in the central valley/bay area/sac area willing to help a poor college kid? i will be more then willing to pay in beer! and $$ if needed.

 

nevermind..... i just opened the package and put the sldiers up to my truck to see how it would look and they arnt the right ones. they are for a 3rd gen. I called Jason at Demello-offroad and he said that he doesnt usually do stuff for 2nd gen 4runners but he would do custom ones for me... so i guess i dont need to get a welder for a while.

 

Oh man, that sucks! I really hate when people send me the wrong part, its really annoying!!
Im telling you, look at Richard Stubbs, he does really good work and is a really nice guy. And we need to start supporting the little man, or else they will go out of business.

 

It is hard to give an estimate on a project without seeing how involved it is. Number of mounts, access or lack thereof to the places that need welding, etc. all affect the time required and cost of the project. My sliders typically run $50 to install, but they are also designed to be installed with simple tools, welding is not required, but can be used if desired.

 

i had a customer bring a set of his sliders to me and I welded them on no problem...the problem came when we went to moab and he TIRED to use the sliders...and the HREW tubing BENT....i wish that i would have taken a picture of these before we threw them in the trash...and I made him a set out of DOM tubing....be careful...
