Well, to me anyway. I took out the stock radio and I am test fitting the new OEM NAV. This box won't let it go back far enough like the stock radio did. I think the back of the stock compensates for this thing.
Once I plug the harness in, it will stick out even further.
I need to know what this is and if it's important. (Airbags or something)

i'm not quite sure what i'm looking at here. That tan box in the second pic looks like the ABS box, at least in mine there was one there labeled ABS. The cruise control is in there too somewhere, but both were labeled. Yours could be different too.

The first shows where it is in the dash, the second is to show the connections on it, and the third is the upper part of this box.

Take a Dremel and relief it. Then slather on a few layers of duct tape...
Just kidding. I'm wondering if I'll find the same mystery container behind my radio. Then again, it may be a LTD-specific item with the auto CC.

Here's what you're looking at:
White: CC ducting and control module. White plastic is the cover.
Tan: Power antenna relay. Don't disconnect or the radio won't work.
Silver: OEM amp.
Yellow (under everything): Airbag control module & impact sensor: DON'T TOUCH!!!
I wouldn't crush anything behind the panel or you risk lots of damage to the CC system that'll be expensive to fix.
The OEM Nav systems fit better in the SR5's since they don't have the CC system and more room in back there.
