I did a 3" suspension lift on my 99 Tacoma with AAL's in the rear. Then added 285/75R16's. I knew that I would need to do some "minor trimming" front and rear. The front was an easy fix. Pound the pinch weld over and cut the flares. The rear however, is only rubbing on the back of the wheel well and is noticably off center, to the rear. Now that I am looking for it, I see the same thing on stock Tacos also. I am looking for a fix. I had a Jeep guy tell me to move the leaf centering pins to a new hole on the axle's spring perch. He said I may have to drill new holes if they do not already exist. Any ideas?

 

get a bigger shackle, that may force it forward. My 4runner has the same problem.

 

Thanks for the reply. Yah, I had wondered if that would help because it would raise it in the back of the leaf only. Now I am wondering if I should take out the 2.5" AAL and go with a 1.5" AAL and a 2" shackle so that she still sits close to level.

Have you heard when Corral Canyon OHV areas will reopen after the rains? Some great trails out there.

 

Check out Downey's spring packs they are damn cheap and ride like stock. Way better than the AAL junk and should fix the centering problem a little.

It was really noticeable when I went with my 285s. I installed OME leafs in the rear for the lift and they are also supposed to center the axle. They actually overcorrected the problem a little. I now rib on the front of the rear wheel wells when the rear is flexed. I think I'm just going to deal with it for now, but I plan to get a set of Deavers later in 05. Hopefully that will correct the situation.
