What's the equivalent metric size for 32x11.50 for 16" wheels?

285/70R16 = 31.71"d x 11.22"w
285/75R16 = 32.83"d x 11.22"w
305/70R16 = 32.81"d x 12.01"w
305/75R16 = 34.01"d x 12.01"w

 

I want a 285/70R16, but I can't find one for the life of me. Does anyone have this size tire on their 4-runner? I'd like to have the Goodyear Wrnagler M/T, but I don't think they make it in that size?? Are there any other similar tires that are made in that size?

Here's a sample:

265/75R16

265 is the width in millimeters
75 is the aspect ratio (ratio of width to sidewall height)
16 is the rim

You take 265 and divide by 25.4 (# of millimeters in an inch)
This gives you the width in inches.

265/25.4 = 10.43"

Then take the width x .75 (aspect ratio of 75 - if it was a 70 multiply by .7, etc)
This gives you one sidewall height

10.43 x .75 = 7.82"

Multiply x 2
Two sidewalls

7.82x2 = 15.65"

Add the rim diameter
This gives you your diameter.

15.65" + 16" = 31.65"

So, in inches the tire is a 31.65x10.43R16

never ever heard of one. why not a 285/75/16, its only a 1" difference. you will not find a 285/70 in any popular tire (ie MT/R, BFG MT, Dueler MT, Swamper, etc)

All I've got is the Performance Products 1" taller progressive rate springs and an air lift outback 1000 in the rear. I'm sitting 1" taller in front and 2" taller than stock in the rear. Will they fit without rubbing, and will they fit on my stock 7" wheels?

I was just doin' the math. I did a quick look at BFG (AT & Mud) and the Goodyear MTR. No dice. It looks like the closest you will get (on those brands) is a 265/75R16. See above for size. The manufacturer's sizes vary a little from the example.

 

Thanks for the info. I'd like to go bigger than my current size tires, even though the same size more aggressive tire would be okay, I guess.

i dunno what u got now, but 265/75/16 is your best bet. you could get an 8" wheel to make them a bit wider.

you dont have room for a 285.

another note. it looks like your trying to build a performance vehicle, goin to 33s will kill your performance. my $.02 is to go with 265/75s.

 

Performance mainly for on-road, but I like to off-road some too. I wonder if I put a 1" body lift, I could clear the 285's??

285's will make your gearing taller (?), making it harder for it to get up and go. All those engine mods will be fighting the gearing. Now if you are changing gears too...

 

I don't think that once I get done with everything Ill have any trouble moving myself down the road or trail. That's not going to be the issue, I don't think! But you are right that will slow my takeoffs.

I just wanted to let you all know that I did find a high performance tire made by Yokohama that is a 285/70R16, which is the only one I could find anywhere. Here's the link to it:

Let me know what you all think. I don't like the idea of a street tire, but I don't really do a lot of off-roading right now anyway. It's either this or Goodyear MT/R's in a smaller size. Two totally different tires to say the least.

Chris, I am actually Tire shopping myself, The other guys are right I would def. go with 265/s Period! for Gearing, speed, response and NO LAG 265/70/16s or 75s are the way to go, and those yokas I have heard cause alot of road noise after just a little miles on them but they look very agressive and handle well, Tires can cause alot of problems if you go with the wrong size for what your hoping to do and feel in your 4runner. its up to you just putting a thought in there cause i am actually shopping 2, let me know what you get!

 

Not sure what I'm going to do. I may be traveling quite a bit here soon, so a road tire may be what I'm going to be going with. But, if not, I'm going to get the Goodyear Wrangler MT/R's 265/75R16's!

I'm not sure about the road tire, but one with at least a 60K mile warranty.
