Mounting Hella 550's on roof rack

Just wondering if it was possible to mount these Hella 550's on the back of a Surco rack? I know there are mounts for Hella 500's but wasn't sure about the 550s.

Thanks, I found what you're talking about.

Anyone ever seen this done or think it's a good idea? I'm just bored thinking of ideas.

id just take the lights and screw them into the rack. I dont plan on selling my rack so thats what im going to do. I also have the 550s and mocked them up in the rear, and they look huuuge, overkill? im looking for some Hella 530s? they are smaller than the 550s

Those 550s are bright and ought to do the job nicely;are they fogs or driving lights?

Heres what I did with my surco rack....

screw paying 30 bucks/per light mount. just mount it to the rack.

rear light mounted to rack....

rear light....

front lights mounted to rack

front lights....

i might eveuntly mount 2 more lights in the rear at some point, but for the time being, 1 is enough.

If you don't want to drill holes through the rack or buy a mount, what you can do is buy some L-brackets from Lowes or any hardware store then mount it up on yours. I wanted to buy the mounts from Surco but I am running KC's and they are too long and heavy for the mounts. It only cost me about $8 for 4 brackets.

If you drill holes in the rack to mount the lights, make sure you're lights aren't too deep before you go drilling holes. This is a great solution for smaller lights, but won't work for some lights, so test fit before you go drilling.
