Read these a few weeks back.
I do have a 20 GB Maxtor in my old P3 500 that is working fine, and I built that rig around '99 I think.

But I would never buy them again.
I have two Seagates running with my present setup, and I will continue to use Seagate from this point on.

Seagate rocks!

yeah had a contract with wal-mart replacing the maxtor hdds in the pharmacy computers that they use, the maxtor hdds have over a 50% falure rate, they get so damned hot that they just go, so just dont use the maxtors, or on that note use dells or gateway computers

Ironically Seagate was one of the first of the scene, then they were almost gone. It's good to see that there back and doing good. My 9.54Mhz XT had a 20MB MFM harddrive. The thing worked for over 10 years before I just threw it out.

IBM??? Man, that's definitely a four letter word in the PC world, especially now that they're out of the PC game completely.

our servers are all IBM and we never have any trouble with those. period.

im thinking these workstations are just sub-contracted out to a 3rd party with lowest bidder parts.

No bad luck with mine yet. I wish it would die so I would have an excuse to scoop up a Western Digital Raptor.

Another props for Seagate drives here too. Longest warranty around, if you ever get the chance to use it. Seagates tento to run a little hotter, but it doesn't seem to matter much.
