Well, for your '86 You can go to some longer leafs and relocate the front perches farther forward and that will give you a little lift, combine that with some longer shackles and a Deaver triple-pack and I bet you can get 5" out of it.

The Deaver triple-pack is $185 and the rest is either cheap or free. On our '89 we relocated the stock perches 5" forward (free) installed the Deaver triple-pack on a set of stock Tacoma leafs (free) since we already had them and they are about 10" longer than the stock 1st gen runner leafs. You can make some shackles pretty easy (free) or buy some. There are plenty of cheap options to lift the rear.

Well the guy with the '85 said he might be looking to sell it, not sure. He has it in his yard and it needs some work but is not too bad, He said it ran recently but doesn't now, might just need a battery charge? I didn't talk pricing w/him since it was just a maybe but I gave him a card and he said he'll call me if he decides to let it go.

Then after we left I remembered that you were looking for one and I thought about going back over to his house and talking to him more but then you posted saying you bought one already.

The truggy is going good, I haven't done a lot other than stripping it down to only what we'll be reusing but that's because I've been busy working on the '89 and some other projects. We started taking measurements for the cage on the truggy though and we have sketched some ideas that look really sweet. For the most part though that project is on the back burner for about another month until we wrap up the '89 completely and then we'll focus on it. at that point progress should come quick.

They are about the same actually. And if you have never welded anything before, you'd better get a SKILLED who knows something about 4x4s to help you put on the stuff for sure. Even with GREAT help a lot of the stuff is a PITA, but worth it now.

Good luck!
