factory keyless entry on a 93?

I made a call to my local dealer to see if I could retrofit a factory keyless remote to my 4runner. They told me that keyless entry was not avail. in 93, so I could't do it. Anyone know this to be true or false. My lock cylinder in the driver's side door is crap and I never know if I'm gonna be allowed in. Any help or different routes are greatly appreciated.

Your dealer is a liar because I have the factory keyless entry on mine. Look on the bottom side of you dash by your hood and gas cap release and see if there is a little metal switch. If there is then you have the keyless entry and all you need is a new remote.

cool, both replies are helpful, I'm not sure if I have the switch, but I'll check. Also, will any other Toyota locks from the same era fit my truck?, It's no big deal if I have to use a different key for the back window. The reason I say this is that finding 4runner parts at a junker within 500 miles of me is next to impossible. That's why I may need to use tercel locks or something.

I've never seen a factory keyless entry on any 4Runner before 1996. I'd be interested in finding out what system you have and getting rid of the Clifford system on mine.

Maybe the dealer was stating that it was not available to order. I tried to order a toyota TVS alarm for my Celica (to keep things stock looking) and they said that it is no longer made.

I have keyless entry on my 93 pickup, but it is part of an Alpine security system (not factory). One button locks/unlocks the doors and the other will roll down the windows.

I have a 1990 SR5 with the Factory Alarm/Keyless Entry. Don't know if they still have them available though. I tried to get the factory floor mats replaced (brown) and found out that the only ones available are grey and oak!
