Any way to make it right, like flush out the system???

Assume one would want to change oil and see what is in there, like maybe with a magnet/strainer??? Check for sludge???

Should the seafoam (fuel injector) cleaning be postponed or expidited???

I would put the seafoam in the crankcase and see if that cleans it out.

without oil change...

checked the dipstick today, had some oil on it...

did you just buy this 4runner or was it yours the entire time? if you just bought it, did you know the oil wasn't changed in that long of a time? i have no idea what may come out if anything at all.

 

I have seen the inside of motors where the oil was never changed. The oil was no longer a liquid, it was solid sludge. It's the most horrible thing I had ever seen in a motor. You could not even see a rough outline of the head bolts. And I don't think that one was anywhere near 30 or 40k...

 

personally, i would pull the pan and clean the pickup and the bottom of the pan, then change the oil and drive it for about 1000 miles and change it again, and from now on, change it at every 3000 miles to slowly break up any left over sludge, you don't want to clean it all at once

but this shows the durability of a Toyota engine

 

Yeah, ya ought flush it. But you probably should do what I do, a short change. Get some Mobil "Drive Clean" motor oil in 5w-30 or 10w-30 change the oil and the filter, then drive it a couple weeks to a month. Before you change it again get some Marvel Mystery Oil, Gunk Motor Flush (which I hate), or Amsoil motor flush, put it in and follow directions. Drain and refill with a good quality oil.

Ray Maliozzi (or was it Tom?) of Car Talk fame, tried running his Dodge Colt Vista wagon without changing oil for several years, just to see what would happen.

Nothing Happend.

He finally got weak when he had to get it inspected and let them change the oil. End of experiment. But the Colt is still running.

 

There was a 3.4 motor outa a taco on ebay a while back that never had an oil change and the motor was almost completely destroyed. The cam bearing spun, rod bearing spun, pistons, crank, con rods, oil pump was bad, etc. all totally destroyed. This was after like 60k miles though on the original oil. I guess the motor still started up when they pulled it. Those are somethings that could go wrong if you dont change your oil.

 

I was thinking the same thing.

 

You'd better clean it real good and pray that the rods dont decide to do the "twist" or worse.

did u check it at all in the last 2 years? if not it is nice that it still has any.

 

My 84 Tercel goes about 10K between changes. But then again it burns a quart every 1000 miles anyway...

 

the dealer and most shop can do a complete engine flush. you may want to check into that.

 

Engine flush sounds like the ticket.
