Cleaning the underbody of Shirley

After washing the 4runer the other day i caught a glimpse of the underside of the rig. Its filthy... i just recently took the running boards off and I am now showing my filthy underside to the rest of the world. It is a 96 with 186000 miles on it, and from what I can tell the underside has never been cleaned. I plan on simple greening the beast sometime during this christmas break, but from the looks of it It seems as though i might be stuck with a rust color doo doo brown underbody. The chrome side steps are under the tree, I bought them.. i wrapped them... i want them... but i would like to have the ride uniformally clean before i put those on there... any suggestions would be very helpful... thanks again yotatech.

ya, first suggestion......DON'T DO IT! i started on my truck one day during a oil change and for what your looking for, all will be lost in a few days of driving and you'll put a lot of time into it and notice that your not getting very far. also, u might have some small leaks and the buildup on the undercarraige is keeping it from leaking. btw, its the underside of your truck, who's gonna see it? unless you show your friends your undercarraige instead of the cool upgrades youve done to your engine!
its not a show car or something your drive only on sundays when the suns out.

I pressure washed mine then painted everything with 97 cent spraypaint and it looked brand new. Some cleaner with the pressure washing would help to.

When I get home from wheeling I turn the sprinkler on in the yard and park on top of it. Then about every 10 minutes I go out and move it a couple inches so I get all of the big stuff off. Waters the yard and cleans the truck at the same time!

I can't decide if that is more "Jeff Foxworthy" or more "Red Green"...

Not Jeff Foxworthy, he has too many cars in the front yard as it is.
"If you mow your lawn and find a car....you might be a redneck!"

Whats funny is I have a really nice yard and live in an somewhat upscale neighborhood. I have had neighbors come over and ask what happened to my truck. I ask what they mean and they say..."it so dirty, did you lose control and go into a ditch?" Nope just took it 4wheeling. Then they say things like "you mean you did this on purpose!?"

Ha ha. That's great. YOu know what I do? After a pressure washin' I spray WD-40 under the neath. I've only done it once. It works great. But it only lasted about 5 days because of a return to the trails.

I know the feeling... You are much more likely to see Lexus, BMW and Mercedes in my neighborhood than anything with mud on it. It's even worse at work. When I park my truck covered with filth on Monday morning, the spaces on either side of me stay empty all day. They seem to be afraid that the dirt will jump off my rig and onto their Ferrari's, BMW's, Porche's and Mercedes'...
