24V electric valve on a 12V truck...?

May or may not work, depends on how much current it takes to pull the valve open and if you can get that with 12V (or 13.8V charging). Knowing the coil resistance and the minimum operating current would give you a good idea. Usually things like relays only work down to about 3/4 of the designed voltage or so before they drop out. You could get a small DC-DC convertor (12Vin - 24Vout) from a good electronics supply place.
