Skidplate Color

I'm going to be pulling my skidplate to install my stabilizer. I've got a little rust on it, so I was thinking I'd like to clean it up and paint it. I'm thinking either OE Black, or Yellow. I'm planning to paint other components under the rig in yellow - including control arms, the IFS brace, etc. Already, my Bils are yellow as are my PP springs and I also did the factory tow hook. I like the look with my dk. blue paint, but I don't want it to look too over the top. Please cast a vote.

Here's the hook.

eewww, when I think yellow, I think 69hp ricer civic

Haha, of course just my opinion

I think black or chrome is the only way to go. Sometimes silver looks good too.

If I may just offer an opinion....just go with black...paint does not stay on your skid plate all that well!!!! Heck, you may even want to get it powdercoated. I have mind painted white, and within no time, it looks terrible....I am anxious to get a new skidplate!!

Hey Mike,

When you find a source to fab you up some skidplates, make sure to let us know. Im looking as well.
Im getting the front diff drop spacers from Mr Schaefer. Can't put them on unless I have different skidplates.

I think if it's a show truck or an on-road truck, give it a flashy color like yellow or chrome. Personally, I would electro-plate the thing in that case.

If you use it off-road, make it black or not at all, for obvious reasons.

Black all the way. My rockstomper was yellow, but I couldn't take it anymore so I sanded it down and painted it black. It looks much better now.

Go black. You have a dark color truck. Go with yellow and it will have that blingin' look.

Black it is

It looks like it has been overwhelming. 19 votes for black, 1 yellow and 1 other (Black Pearl?). Thank you for helping me with this decision. I'll be yanking this over the weekend to paint it.

Now, what color suit should I where today...

Painted and Curing

I finally got my skidplate painted. I wanted the right sheen, so I settled on Eastwood Underhood Black. This stuff goes on like a dream. I put a rust neutralizer first (after sanding, etc.) then the color coat. Its a semi gloss black that looks alot like the ARB front bumper finish.

I had a aluminum skid plate, which I polished (bad move). It was too much upkeep. When it was clean looked really good though. Chrome would look awesome, but as soon as it scratches it will rust so.....I guess go with black.

Jus my 2 cents
