The station wagon is no longer the boring old family car anymore,they are being made to be very good looking rides that can still fit the whole family.
If i didnt have my runner i would most likely have a nice looking S/wagon.but the runner gives me the height I like(I can see past all the other Vans & 4x4 on the road)& ive always got that option of going on a trail (not that i have yet).
I have seen a couple of low runners(not stupidly low,just about the same as a normal car) & they looked like a nice wagon,not to mention had some originality about them.
So im not against the idea,each to there own i say

Subaru legacy wagons are 4wd, so are some other nice S/wagons,they are just as effective on gravel or ice roads as the runner,& that may be all that some runners ever see as far as offroading goes.
Thinks outside of that Square you are in

FYI...might wanna watch the language, this is a PG sorta forum....
Good to see another Prerunner on the board, only a few of us on here. Tis a great truck, very capable for a 2wd. Stick around long enough and you'll grow jealous of all the 4x4's, and end up either buying one or getting a rear locker for your Prerunner (like me
)
Anyway, back on topic, I too dont really understand why people put 20's on their 4wd trucks, but it is their money and truck....even if it makes me wanna
BTW welcome to the board

a 4runner is a 4runner no matter what shoes it has.
I live in and around NYC there is no offroading here, its a height thing. See all the morons before they come at you. The 20's if done right look very nice, makes your 4runner more unique. Also the way they plow here in the winter you need 4wd just to park or get out after they plow you in.

It's like impulse said, you need the height to see over parked cars to get through stop signs so you don't get t-boned. Also, the way they plow snow here, some people can't get there cars out for 2 days. My car gets out without plowing, and I see plenty of SUV's getting around with 20's in 2 feet of snow. Some people like to make their cars look nice, others like to make it for off-roading. Both a waste of money if you look at it because it's not a necessity.Depends on what you want to waste your money on. Personally, I like the way the 4Runner looks on 20's (22's would be better). But that's because I'm from NY. If I was somewhere else, I'd probably do a body lift and do some other off-road mods.

From: 100 miles offshore as much as possible, & Springfield Oregon USA
To each his own. I like the way SUVs look with 20s a lot, but it wouldn't work for me so I'm not spending my dough doing it. Awfully tempted on the F150 since I never take if offroad...but man that's a pile of money to spend!
I personally think living with the poor fuel mileage of an SUV without actually having 4wd is..a waste.. just get a really great car for the price and get better handling a better economy... but if I lived in Houston where it never snows it "might" make sense. (Totally agree with the better visibilty thing though - drives me nuts to drive a regular car after 15+ years "up high".) But I don't go badmouthing folks who think differently.
Kloun - behave!
