Larger pics changed to links, in future posts please make them links for those of us with low resolution displays. Nice pics by the way!

I grew up on Eastern Long Island, surf fished from the Shinnecock Inlet to Montauk Point for many years, and I hate to say, but it really pisses me off to see that idiot in the white Hummer driving illegally over the dunes. Reminds me of the New York City weekenders and other tourists trying to drive on the beach, they had no clue what they were doing. Had my fishing friends been there and saw that guy, it would have been a hellava scene.

hey dude, that "idiot" that you speek of is my step dad so i appreciate your care for the dunes but i really dont think we, because i did it too so i guess that makes me an idiot too, did anything that was or ever will cause significant damage to the beach. and if you would have said something with your friends it would have been a scene alright because i dont think you would have any idea who you are dealing with.
have a nice day

If everyone used that same excuse that we didn't do any significant damage to the dunes, there won't be any dunes left. Come on, you know better then that. You have a beach permit, right? There is reason for the statement on the back stating that riding on the dunes is prohibited. I'm not some "tree hugger" who likes to whine about the dunes, but you and your stepdad only make it harder for those of us who access the beach for legal purposes. You're giving the state and local authorities more reasons to deny us access.

If you feel good for taking some illeagal poser shots and posting them on the Internet for all to see, well good for you. BTW, my friend who would have caused a scene had he seen you is a trooper with the New York State Police. Had he seen you up in the dunes, all of you would have been ticketed and lost your beach permits. He has seen your post and pics and I'm curious to find out his reaction.

I wish you guys would have excersiced a little better judgment in picking your locations for offroad wheeling. Check out Tread Lightly! My apologizes for the "idiot" reference, I'm sure you guys were out just to enjoy a nice day, but please be alittle more responsible where you choose to wheel.

I got a chuckle out of your "i dont think you would have any idea who you are dealing with" comment. Well, Happy Birthday you just turned 19 and you still have plenty of growing up to do.

Welcome to YotaTech, stick around you'll learn alot here.

whatever dude

look here man, my step dather is a suffolk county corrections officer as well as my mom, my whole family is ok so we wouldnt be loosing our permits. so when you said it would have been a hell of a scene i wasnt thinking your so called friend is a state trooper, cause lets say he wasnt and he started something he would be leaving in cuffs regardless that we were on the "dunes".

but just so i can show you that i am grown up im gonna ask to have this thread removed because apparently it upsets you a great deal that we rode over a dune, and i really dont feel like getting into it with you over a few pictures i posted, and since you feel like i need to grow up then why waste your time putting down some "kid".

I think the one who needs to grow up is you Mike. Let's lose the attitude, ok?

It sure sounds like Ian knows the area and if there's a rule/law against driving in those areas of the dunes then you need to stay out, plain and simple. It doesn't matter who you or your family members are, the law still applies to you. Ignoring closed areas is what gives us a bad image and gets trails/areas closed.
