modifing stock wheel wells?
I know there are fiberglass fenders out there that can give you 3" more clearence - they are pretty pricey and all that give you the clearence stick out real far. I was thinking why not find a body guy to hack out the wheel
wells and find a bigger flare from a full size truck that would fit. Anybody done anything like this? or have an opinion on it?
Thanks,
TBob

Yea I agree on the front but have you seen what is required for the back?
some serious work and I have a camper shell so I don't think
replacing the outer metal of the box and using the fiberglass would work.
Thanks,

I've been mauling this over recently. I want to be able to clear 35's with my IFS through very mild lift (BJ spacers, cruiser coils, and 1" BL) and enlarging the wheel openings. Bushwacker flares for a Superduty or even an older F-250 seem to have alot of diameter to them. I'm not ready to start hacking just yet though...

On the front I cut out the fender the same but didn't have to attach it to an inner wheelwell like the back. I just bent it like an L so the sharp edge was facing inward.

Wheel Well Mod
I'm all for Cheep, Home grown mods but this takes the cake.
It was on at Tracker,
I thought that the guy had wide tires on it but when I came up to to it I noticed that he had cut the wheel wells and then attached pieces of tires as a fender flair. They stuck out about 3-4".
They had a nice arc to them but :pat:
I'll give the guy points for effort but did it look fugly....

flaring
I cut mine with a big Dewalt jigsaw, taped off the boders with a little xtra space and went to town. I run 33x12.5 in stock hubs or 35's w/ 1.5" spacers.
I'm in the process of cutting some old tj jeep
flares to fit, they are the right basic angle. Please ignore that heep in the background, it's just your imagination.
