Seller feedback rating of "zero" is not always a good sign, especially on a high-dollar item like this. If you don't get a response w/in the next 24 hours, I'd notify Ebay and have PayPal retract your payment based on the default fo the seller. That might get some reaction out of him. Keep us all posted on this.

i say wait a little longer... maybe he has been busy... keep emailing him..... if not, file a complaint with ebay..... then try to go on paypal and see if you can retract payment.... if it was your credit card, they might allow it to be reversed....

Bad thing is paypal only protects up to $500. I did pay with my credit card though so hopefully they'll cover it if anything happens.

call your credit card and alert them .. and get ready to have them stop payment from paypal .... I hate to say this ... but what were you thinking ordering a $1600 item from someone with no feedback?!?!?!

Also if you go to the ebay contact info page .. you can get the guys address and phone number ... or at least the address and number he gave to Ebay. Thats a start ....

man I hope you don't get screwed, b/c that would be one expensive esson to learn.

good luck!

one more thing ... do not let paypal tell you to wait 30 days to allow the seller to ship the item to you ... b/c if you read the fine print, after 30 days, your options of getting your money back ... are zero. Its a catch 22 ... they tell you to wait 30 days, but if you wait, .. your the one that loses out.

so basically:
1) get his contact info from Ebay
2) contact paypal
3) notify your credit card of possible fraud

Hmm.. I wasn't aware you could contact the credit card of possible fraud. Do I call them up and tell them just that?

I'll report to paypal by tommorow afternoon if I haven't heard from him.

I had one bad deal on a camera .. I should have known better .. they had great feedback .. what caught my attention was he wrote "I only used this a few times, and now it has to go" ... later I clicked on his other auctions link .. he was selling 3 more just like it (with the auctions ending 2-3 days apart), not to mention other types of cameras as well. I contacted the seller, paypal, ebay, and my credit card with what I had found out .. He wasn't responding to any e-mails from anyone, so within 48 hours paypal gave me my money back.

in all honesty .. you'll probably have more luck with your creidt card then with paypal .. but give paypal a chance first .. that is what your credit card company will say. But it still never hurts to call and let them know.

Actually, keep in mind that eBay owns PayPal. In other words, eBay and PayPal only look out for one another. Best bet is to take care of this issue with your credit card company. The downside to taking care of this with your credit card company is that PayPal and eBay may warn you to resolve this issue with them, instead of taking it up with your credit card company. PayPal and eBay may take action and block your PayPal and eBay account, but I think your $1600 is much more important than maintaining good standing with either PayPal or eBay. Don't let anyone (including eBay and PayPal) take advantage of this situation. $1600 is just WAY too much money to lose.

You say that, but ebay is my main and only source of income.

I guess I'll just worry about it tommorow.. Give my credit card company a call

I actually remember that auction. I remember the "Toyota Pros" part. I actually bought mine right around the same time, And I made sure to order it from someone with high feedback...even though I paid $1,900, I did it because I hate when ppl screw me over and the headaches and time it takes to rectify the situation.
Paypal didn't let me buy it either, I didn't know you started out with a $2000 limit and need to be verified in order to increase your allowance. So I drove out to Pennsylvania (an hour away) and dropped the cash in the guys hand and left. Toyotaparts5cog was the sellers name on Ebay I believe.

Hey Guys, I used to work in the online transaction industry, and here is one website I came across which had some interesting information about paypal. I use paypal and think it's a great service, but here is a good resource to broaden your horizons on some weird things that paypal does so you are aware and you don't get screwed.

Still waiting... no progress yet

Filed with ebay as well as the Internet Fraud Complaint Center who in turn notifies the sellers local authorities as well
