What PSI for 33X10.50

Hey I have BFG AT 33x10.50's

I have been running them at 33 PSI assuming that the Max was 35 like the 33X12.50 bfg at's I had on before. Well I went to fill em today and noticed that the max PSI says 50. Is this correct? If any of you run this tire what do you inflate to? Maybe this is hurting my gas mileage. Thanks -Seth

running lower psi will always hurt gas mileage... but raising psi will improve mileage, but make the ride rough and may lead to improper wear patterns..... 30 psi is about ideal for toyotas as they are light... the 33 you have now is fine...

i have 31x10.5x15" bfg muds on my yota right now and they are at 30 psi... it actually looks like the tires may be overinflated.....

has anyone on this site heard of the chalk test?

I had the same thing go on with my 33x10.50's at 30 psi. They weren't "over inflated" I'd say, but they were so full that they would start to crown the tire. (the inside wears more than the outside) So, I dropped it down to about 25 and it seemed to be a bit better. I didn't really notice any difference in gas though.

oLY884,
THE WEAR YOU MENTION SOUNDS LIKE ALIGNMENT ISSUES RATHER THAN TIRE INFLATION.

WHY IS THE TIRE RATED FOR SUCH A HIGH PSI IF ONLY 30 PSI IS NECESSARY?

RATIO WISE A 35 PSI TIRE AT 30 COMPARED TO A 50 PSI TIRE AT 30 IS QUITE DIFFERENT.

JUST CONFUSED I GUESS.

To set the pressure for the load you are carrying everyday draw a line across the tread portion of the tire with white chalk, drive around the block(might take more or less) and observe how the chalk is rubbing off. All gone... up the pressure, some left on the outsides of the tread... lower the pressure.

This will get you close to the correct pressure for your tires to wear correctly.
