4X4 spot East of Sacramento, CA ?

Hello,
I have a stock 2000 4-runner w/o locking rear, and I'm looking for some beginner-noob places to wheel in the foothills or Tahoe area.
If you can think of anyplace cool, please let me know with some details of how to get there, what to expect etc...
Thanks,
Frank

Near Rescure, CA there is a trail called Jergens that leads you to the south fork of the american river. Some good wheeling. Its really nice. You can camp right near 2 good rapids and watch as all the rafters and kyakers go down the river.

Ummm.. Not to my knowledge. I really wish there were more trails locally.

You can only spend about an hour at greenhorn and not get bored tho...

How'd you hear about it?

--we had a party up there almost a year ago, i decided it would be cool to go explore where it went. it was a good place for target practice too. have you ever been to camp far west?-- i hear that place has lots of trails and its private property, so no police worries.

Camp far west sounds really farmilliar, though I don't think I've been.

Personally, I think it would be a good idea to check for permission though

Seriously, us nor-cal guys (and girls) should meet up sometime!

I am located near Sonora. There are a lot of trails up here. There are lots of forest roads that go all over the place. I believe that a lot of these forest roads are on www.mappoint.com. There is even a town called Jupiter about 12 miles out in the trees. Although it is mostly gravel to get there, it is still kind of neat. Most of the roads are up highway 108 near Twain Harte and Mi Wuk. People around here also do a lot of wheelin' on Mt. Provo (outside of Tuolumne city).

Red Dog/Greenhorn is cool for a while and a great place to play for beginners. Just make sure you don't end up like this..... :pat:

Directions..hmm

Take I-80 East towards Reno
Exit HWY 174/Colfax
Cross the freeway (mind is drawing a blank on road names) and make a Right at the stop sign
Right again
Right on You Bet Road (a ways ahead)
Take You Bet Road & Red Dog Road all the way through the dirt and downhill to the river

Vague, I know.. But if I'm available, I could show anybody who wanted to know!

EDIT:
Try this: But ignore the last two steps
