hey, well I should be getting my 4runner FINALLY this wednesday. That means this weekend i'm going camping with some friends and want to test the 4runner out off-road. Has anyone ever ran Middle St. Vrain 4x4 trail in colorado? Its right outside of peaceful valley campground, and is rated as more difficult. I ran some of it last year in my 4x2 CR-V, but I am thinking I will be able to do the whole thing in my 4runner. Is it bad to 4x4 my first few times with the stock street tires? Any other suggestions on moderate 4x4 trails close to Denver with good camping? Thanks Larry

 

I don't think that the trails will be open you should check with people on colorado4x4.org. I belive I read that they were still closed.

 

hmmm.... i searched colorado4x4.org and found that they were closed in March and should have opened in April but might be full of snow. Is there a park ranger I could call or something? Any other ideas?

 

well i searched for the campgrounds and found that they dont take reservations until 5/28 so I guess that means there closed now.

 

Darren reccomended Slaughterhouse Gulch. Does anyone know if you can camp there?

 

I believe that you can camp up there, but I have only been on the trail once so I don't know how good it is.

P.S. I am planning on doing the trail Saturday if you gust want to run the trail insted.
