2nd Gen SAS Questions...
Ok I have searched for "SAS" and read through at least 20 whole threads but cannot find this one answer.
Ok we know that for a Tuff Country 4" IFS Lift its about $1400. and for an AllPro SAS Kit its about $1500 + $200-300 for the axle and drive shaft.
This one question I need to know is, if i got and allpro sas kit with 3" springs, what would my final lift be on my 4Runner? I can't have it to high or it will be hard to put my son in his car seat.

The average drop hanger and shackle lift is in the 2" range give or take. I mean this roughly for all others who will try to correct me with micrometer measurements.
The springs should add another 3" to that, but most springs start out way high and settle. My guess is you would end up with atleast 6" of total lift with AP 3" springs and hangers.
In the cost comparison, you have forgotten locking the front, adding at least after market birfields, plus brakes, brake lines, etc. It is darn difficult to do an off the shelf swap with a locked low pinion diff for $3k and that is only the front end.

with the IFS lift, I don't think you need a new front drive shaft. With the SAS, you do.
You will need a rear drive shaft also after you lift it to match the front. You also want to change the bearings and seals ....basically over haul the front axle before you swap it.
oh, and re-gear....unless you want to run the same size tires which will look small after SAS .....or 4" IFS lift.

Well I wanted to stay in the 4" lift range with 33's just for the fact of getting my son in and out. But I just HATE IFS. I loved my 85' Runner with SFA. Oh well I guess I will just lift the iFS.
What lift would you guys reccommend?

Or you could go with the cheap and proven bodylift, fender trimming, BJ spacers and cruiser coils. That way you get on 33's, you are still low and you have not broken the bank.
4" of lift ought to be enough for 35's.
I would not put a solid axle on a rig that I was worried about getting a kid into and out of. Lockers and gears will get you much farther.

Thanx for the info...
The reason I was leaning towards a SAS is I have watched many videos of IFS rigs get into some off camber stuff and just roll... And a lot of the stuff I wheel through is off camber...

You mentioned the 4" with 35's. Thats what I'm running. Well if you want to get technical its about 5" suspension on IFS (and yes IFS does suck bad) with longer rear shackles and t'bars cranked a little. It rubs on real tight turns and good suspension compression. I only trimmed the front valance to the contour of the tires. So it does work. I have to jump to get into it. With your kid I would stick with 33's.
I've heard sway bar discos help IFS flex, but thats not from experience. I would like to try em though.
