1993 Toyota pickup throttle sticking
Hello my throttle body on my 1993 22re keeps sticking. I pulled the throttle body off and gave it a good cleaning as well as replacing the shaft seals. Got a new dash pot as I thought that was cause the stick but still the throttle is sticking. When it does stick I can get out the truck and push the throttle link closed and it will idle back down. I’m lost at this point, I know LCE sells a throttle body but would rather not keep throwing money at parts if I could help it. Any thoughts tips or suggestions are appreciated. Would like to state that with the dash pot off the throttle did not hang which is my reason for purchasing a new one. However even with the new it sticks when the throttle is slowly closing

Sticky throttle
Both the cable and springs are probably good places to go .But I will say, that the LCE billet throttle bodies are very nice, and for the money, the best upgrade for throttle response they have. It’s worth the money.

Both good suggestions. But which one? Both? I'd first disconnect the cable and try operating the throttle with my finger. Works fine now? The problem is the cable. Works sorta, but not great? Try a better return spring. Still very sticky? You could have a lot of dirt in the TB. Dirt can be cleaned (usually); I'd certainly try that before I laid out for a new TB.

The other possibility, one that was brought up by one of my older master techs recently, is the bushings in the throttle body the shaft pivots on. They’ve seen those get worn and the lateral movement of the throttle shaft causes the plate to hang up.

Sticky throttles
I know LCE had initial issues with their billet throttle bodies and the bushings they had, but they switched to a better part for them that fixed the problem. I had one truck with the initial bushings and one with the improved. The older bushings just needed a little lube via syringe and they worked fine. But they did change them. So, they may be willing to share what they went with in their testing.

I first, I should have been clearer on the return spring. I meant the one for the dash pot.
But I did go ahead and strip down a spare throttle body I had. The only misery was getting the two screws out that hold the throttle plate in. I destroyed those. But I was mentally prepared for that.😂
But once I got the plate out it was easy to slide the shaft out, and much to my surprise all the wear seems to be on the shaft, not the bushings. Wasn’t expecting that. So maybe new bushings would help, but the shaft itself looks the Achilles heel.

I have Vessel JIS. The screw, after tons of effort, finally turned and screwed out. Well, most of it. Both screws had sheared off inside leaving just a small part of the end of the screw. I was able to drill out without harming the threads in the shaft.
