89 toyota pickup 4x4 v6

My dad has a 5 speed 89 pickup that's been in the family since I'm pretty sure new. I'm not sure how long it's been sitting but I've always wanted to fix it up and have it running the deer lease again. The reason it was parked long ago was because it had "no power". He said the engine was running perfect and would rev up to the desired rpms but when it was put in gear it would sputter and would barely have any drive to it. I'm not very familiar with standards and don't know how clutches work but my dad now thinks it could be the clutch. I'm only 18 and can only do so much for it now but when I get the money I would love to work on it so I would like to figure out the problem and get a price range for me to do it myself. Sorry I don't have a good picture but here it is in the background.
