I really appreciate all the help and encouragement I've gotten on the forum with my 4runner project. I've decided to put the rocker panel trim back on, but the rubber pieces (circled in picture) that help secure the trim were ripped/rotted when removing the trim to paint. Does anyone here know a source for these or have an idea of something I can use as a substitute? I've look for them, but of course they're a discontinued item. I'm also looking for ideas on a phone holder other than my ashtray, and a drink holder as I'm moving to the interior. I see decent looking drink holders for $35 but really don't feel like paying $70 plus shipping because I need one for my 82 pickup too. At close to $100, I'm halfway to the price for a cheap 3D printer to make my own. I'm also considering making the drink holder out of sheet metal to fit the console. Thank you in advance for any help.
That part that pushes into the rocker has been discontinued. Good news is I took the same type plug insert that’s used for the door trim panels and poked a hole through the bottom. The barb on the rocker trim clip grabbed it perfectly
Thanks for the quick reply. I'll order those tomorrow. I can knock the cup holder off my list. Plenty of scrap sheet metal from my bodywork project, so I whipped this together. took about an hour. I'm about to hit it with some etching primer and paint, then call it a night.
Don't know about the second one, but the first looks right.
Auveco makes some very good clips for Toyota, I bought some of their door clips. They give you the Toyota part number that their part mimics, and fairly decent measurements. https://www.auveco.com/auveco
You can either enter the Toyota part number or search by oem(toyota)
