Trim piece question

Hey guys, love the site.

Just purchased a new to me 83 toyota pickup and I'm planning on redoing the interior. Some sound deadening, carpet etc.

I'm trying to locate new trim pieces that goes on the bottom of the door.

Also was there anything in this location originally? Just infront of the doors towards the hood. It looks like it used to be covered. I'll probably end up just covering it with carpet but am curious.

Thanks!

Yes, there is a panel for that area and another plastic trim piece along the bottom of the panel at the carpet. I can get a picture tommorow if needed. Welcome to the site, lots of good info here.

Good luck finding the sill plate trim. I've been looking for a long time since one of mine is cracked. I've actually thought about having a metal shop bend me up some stainless steel to fit in there. There is also a kick panel cover as well, but I'd be willing to bet that 90% of the trucks still alive have lost them somewhere along the road. I believe Corey at www.toyotafiberglass.com makes fiberglass kick panel replacements. You might want to try there first.

Heres a pic of the plastic panel, you can see how the sill plate trim piece extends to cover this panel at the floor.

The original looks great. Wish somebody would not have stripped my interior before i got it. I made my own panels at one point, but they have long since been tossed as well.
