Ok Im using a 22R motor out of an 81 Toyota 4x4 Pickup in a little rat rod im building and I would like to use an auto trans. I found one out of an 86 2wd pickup but my question is can i use it with the older motor and with it being a motor for a manual trans? i know theres plugs on the auto trans that the manual doesnt have like one for the governor and one for the TPS sensor.

 

I would call a transmission shop and ask how those autos were controlled for shifting. I'm assuming the 81 is still carb'd so you just need the trans to shift without a TPS
