Auto Trans: What the duece do I have?

My Chassis tag says I have a A340H. The filter, which I just replaced tonight, is the H style.

Every single piece of literature says my 85 should have the F.

How does it take the H filter and have a manual shift transfer case on it, since supposedly the H's are electronically controlled? Am I missing something? Is all the info I'm finding wrong, or is something just freaking weird with my truck?

I need a new converter, and I have one sitting here out of a 95 3VZE/340H, so will it work since I have the H transmission, or what?

HELP!!!!!!!!

I believe the A340H is the automatic overdrive transmission, which sounds correct for a 1985 truck.

Don't trust the literature. You think the author personally tore down every piece of that truck?

Also, not trying to tell you what to do with your truck, but that transmission is holding you back. Unless you have your own personal reasons, I'd stick a 5 speed in there. Easy as cake.

I have a trashed left knee. It's all I can do to ride my bike, let alone run a foot clutch in the traffic around here. Plus it's not going to see any crazy off road stuff. Mostly going to be a driver, so the auto will do me just fine. If I can't get it working right, I have a line on all the 5 spd stuff, but I'd rather spend the money on other area's of the truck, like a new exhaust and a paint job, lol.

Thanks for the help.
