Hey y'all,
So me and my dad were given my grandpas 1ton Dually as he's old and does not use it anymore. the 4Cyl in it is GUTLESS. But will survive a nuke. We want to squeeze a few extra ponies and more tq out of it so we can go up a hill without using our flashers and keep up on the highway when having a load in the back. I personally don't speak Toyota, Mainly ford and chevy. Has anyone Done this kind of swap before? and would I need to get a TH350 or would the manual in it hold out? We don't plan on pushing gobs of power out of the SBC. maybe just vortec heads and a 600 CFM carb would be the most. Just a teardown and rebuild of a junkyard motor or get a Long block if we can do vortec heads. Or short block if it is easier and more cost Friendly. Any response on the matter would be great. Thank you
