Identify these Coolers Please!

Can anyone ID these coolers? I'm guessing that the larger cooler is the a/c condenser but I am not sure what the small rectangular one bolted to the front of the condenser is. Looking to replace both of these eventually and couldn't find anything online. Also, if I don't currently have the rest of my a/c system installed can I just leave these off for now and still drive? Thanks all!

Aren't the two condensers (a narrow one and a wider one behind it) just hooked in series? I have no idea if they are stock in any configuration (it doesn't really look like after-market plumbing), but presumably someone figured you needed more condenser cooling.

Can you "leave them off"? Not if you hope to ever use the rest of the A/C system in the future. Unless you securely cap the open lines, you'll get air, water and crap in the lines. Once that makes it to the compressor you won't be happy.

That is the same setup as my 1988 4runner. I think they used 2 condensers for more capacity because there is no electric fan for the ac. The 2nd gens have 1 condenser and an electric fan. If you do need new ones try rockauto.

Weird, can't find that shown anywhere on schematics. Can you post the model#? its on the vin plate on the door jam, or on the plate under the hood mounted on the firewall.

Yeah, I guessed 1988 v6. But none of the parts diagrams show that secondary condenser. Not often I can’t find a part number for something oem.

The condenser pictured in the first post looks like the one Denso says is the OEM replacement (model #477-1033) for 4runners. It's available on to buy new on eBay and AutoZone.

Ah, it’s one piece! I thought they separated.

Yes, the condenser is all one piece.

These condensers with the extra little condenser in front of the main condenser were used in 4Runners up to 1989. The extra little condenser added more capacity for the A/C system to expel heat, which allowed the A/C system to absorb more heat from the cabin. Toyota did this because the cabin of the 4Runner is much larger than the regular or Xtra cab trucks and needed more cooling capacity. The Trucks just came with the main condenser.

Denso still makes these condensers new.

Edit: I don't think Toyota ever showed a diagram of the 4Runner condenser, they just used the diagram for the trucks and listed a different part number for the 4Runners.

I believe the 4Runner condenser part number is 88460-89110.

Toyota has discontinued these from their parts offerings, even though Denso still makes them.
