1991 Pickup Power Steering Gearbox Valve Assembly Adjustment Nut Repair

Hello Yotatech,

I was replacing the seals on my 1991 Toyota Pickup and ran into a problem removing the adjustment nut on the valve assembly. For some reason my truck's gearbox didn't have a lock ring on the adjustment nut. Instead, it was peened into notches to lock into place. This made it extremely difficult to remove and resulted in damage to the threads and spanner holes on the adjustment nut. I've been searching online and it looks like they don't sell the adjustment ring by itself, at least for this gearbox. Does anyone know where I can get one or worst-case, how I can fix this one? Are lock rings and adjustment nuts from a land cruiser compatible?

Thanks!

Disassembled Gear Box. This is from a Truck manufactured in May 1991.

I tried hammering in the peened parts of the adjustment ring. That was a bad idea.

Here is the adjustment ring in all its glory. It's no longer round in the center.

Damaged threads from removal.

Other side with damaged threads.

I put too much tension on the pitman arm puller and exploded it off the nut. The puller damaged the shaft threads when it flew off.
