Intro Newbie

Hey! New to this forum and to owning a Yota Pickup! Just wanted to introduce myself and since it seems I can't find and intro section, I'd post here. I just picked up a 1986 Pickup 4WD 22RE for $2k. It needs a whole bunch of work and I know I'll get a lot of information from this site. I'll also do my best to post progress pictures. I'm located in the New England area so tons of rust... be prepared more of a Toylet than a Toyota

Not in terrible shape

Needs a cleaning and new seats/premium covers and door panels

Clean engine, headers have a rust hole so that needs replacing

minimal frame rust

Holes in all the floors, you can see the cab mount

Looks good to me!
think about protecting that frame if youre gonna be driving it this winter. That liquid salt can work really quick on these frames. Because they are fully boxed, stuff gets stuck inside them and they rust from the inside out.
take it to a carwash and pressure wash the inside of the frame. And think about some sealants or paint, everyone has their preffered products. Im not in the rust belt so I dont have personal experience with any but I do have an old yota with a rusty frame so beware, it happens quick!
not tring to scare you but prevention is way eaiser than repair

That's a nice looking truck and welcome to yotatech, as far as the door panels goes here is an idea on how to redo them yourself.

Welcome & congrats! I agree, 1st thing to address is the frame before another few months of a NE winter.

Thanks for the tips! This truck will be my Home Depot hauler and Sunday driver, I have a work vehicle and my wife has her own car. It will be in the garage for the winter while I work on it
