What size catalytic converter?

I have a question for anyone out there who has ordered a exhaust system from LCE. I'm going to be ordering a new Catalytic converter for my 1986 4x4 xtra cab pickup with the 22RE engine. I don't know what size to get from LCE. They offer a 12.5" or a 17.5" option but I don't know which to go with. My truck had it's exhaust system rusted out and missing the catalytic converter when I bought it, so I have know way of knowing what size was on it previous. I already ordered the header and cat-back kit from LCE for the truck so the only task left is the Cat. I would love to not deal with a converter, but I live in one of the two counties in Idaho that requires emissions and smog. Any help or suggestions as to what size I should go with is appreciated.

Thanks .

Thanks for the response, was there a difference in size for the cats between long bed trucks and standard beds maybe? I'm not sure and don't quite understand why there are two different sizes available.

I went and looked at their website. If I’m reading it properly 12.5” is Calif, and 17.5” is 49 state. My working experience was pretty much limited to cal.
