ford taurus swap help

hello all, looking for some advice. i recently did a 3.4 swap and im in the process of putting my electric fan in now. i have the ford taurus fan installed the the temperature probe on the bottom of the engine. is this the wrong place to put it? i can't seem to get the probe hot enough to turn on the fan. im worried about leaving it on a long time cause it could overheat the engine. i tested it outside of the car before i put it in so i think it might just be my placement. where should i install it?

im using ford taurus fan from 1991 ford taurus
vw jetta thermostat and a 3d printed block to hold it in place.
volvo 850 relay block

The engine needs a fan to be ON in order to cool it. Why would a fan that is ON for a long time overheat an engine?

Where did you get the information to gather above parts?
Did your source say these parts would work together well on your engine? Did it not tell you how and where to install the switch? If it didn't what made you think the combination above would work?

Hi.
On my 3VZE, I used the two speed fan from a Mercury Villager. I think it is the same as the Taurus fan.
I cut, and trimmed the upper rad hose, and inserted a small length of straight pipe.
I had brazed a bung in the pipe to accept a 190 degree temp sensor from a BMW.
I felt that this was the best location to sample the heat of the engine. Time has proven me correct.
For a controller I used a two speed one from a 90s Volvo. (dismantler). In the Volvo it is mounted on the rad support on the pass. side.
The Merc fan really uses a boatload of current (70 amps inrush, 60amps hi spd.--30amps lo spd.), so I had to use two relays in parallel with a fuse to run the controller.
One relay will die a horrible death after about a month. (symptom= fan always on, or always off.)
You will find that the Runner alternator (65 amps) doesn't have the capacity in the long term to keep your battery charged properly when the fan is added to the list of users.
I had to do something about that, but it is another long story.
Good luck.
Art.

I would not worry about this set up being unable to cool your engine. build a nice shroud for your fan, and use a circuit breaker not a fuse for the wiring.
I am going to use a volvo fan and relay block along with a ditigal fan controller for my 1UZ-FE swapped pickup
