Ive read a ton of threads on here and am overwhelmed with different solutions to fuel pressure issues and before buying a new fuel pump I thought id ask here first.
Truck is 87 toy pickup with 22re. New fuel filter, plug, cap, rotor, spark plugs and wires.
I checked my fuel pressure with a gauge through the cold start injector and with the Fp & B+ jumped in the diagnostic box the gauge reads 38psi. When I start the truck and run it at an idle the pressure gauge reads 30psi. If I apply less than a 1/4 throttle it revs smoothly to 3-4000rpm a d still reads 30psi but if I apply more throttle or WOT the motor starts chugging, stumbling or missing and the pressure climbs back to 38psi and when I let off the throttle it drops back to 30psi. Does this sound like a weak fuel pump? Also when i pinch the return line off the fuel pressure regulator and apply WOT it seems to run smooth and not stumble. Trucks ran fine for the past few years and the issue started the day after doing 10mins of donuts in the snow. Any help is appreciated. Video of idle, then 1/8 - 1/4 throttle, then WOT. https://youtu.be/6DuPVXVi02o

no, pump is operating correctly. it can reach 38 psi under high load/demand, and sits at 30 psi at idle, which is just what it is supposed to do. a weak pump won't go higher than 30 psi, and in fact, you probably won't notice it until it only maxes out at 20 to 25 psi. i've had them run on 15 to 20 psi, and it is really obvious that something is wrong (lean misfire). look elsewhere for your issue.
Copy that, gonna check compression and probably replace the elbow in my air tube as I notice a small crack in it, but it doesnt look like its all the way through.
If an injector o-ring is leaking would i hear anything or see any fuel near the injector?
*Update well I just replaced the double elbow going into the throttle body and replaced the fuel pump hanger and so far it seems to be cured, but I havent road tested it yet. The double elbow had a tiny crack in it that could only be seen while bending it. The fuel pump hanger positive wire had major corrosion at the connector on top of the fuel pump hanger and broke off while cleaning it. The positive wire also had a small bare spot and was corroded less than an inch away from the plug end. On top of that the hard line for fuel on the pump hanger cracked about an inch long but wasnt leaking originally, after taking the hanger off/on several times it started leaking so I replaced the whole thing. I will update again once I road test it and put some miles on it. New double elbow New pump hanger Access panel
