Headgaskets Replaced, now crank no start.

I couldnt find a thread with a solution to my issue. If you know of one feel free to point me to it and Ill delete this one.

Anyway, ive got a 1995 toyota 4runner 3.0. I just did headgaskets, i took pictures and marked everything i could as far as timing goes. Ive triple checked that it is identica to how it was when i disassembled it. Now it cranks but has no intention on firing, it also has a “back fire” could be coming from the intake. Now im at a loss, no codes either. That to me screams timing but i have it set exactly as it was and it ran when i pulled it in the shop. Thanks in advance.

I would start by checking the wiring connectors, that it has spark, and that the distributor is timed correctly.

see thats where I messed up was i wasnt thinking and pulled the distributor out. So isnt it just set the engine to tdc compression stroke and make sure the rotor is pointed at #1?

If the distributor is right, are the plug wires going to the correct cylinders? Throw a timing light on #1, crank it and make sure you have spark.
