3vz head gasket rebuild - cranks but wont turn over!

Hey guys,

New here, and I'm about to burn my truck down! I'm so over it so hoping someone can help!

Recently re done head gasket and everything else. Motor is all back together, went to start it yesterday, realised we forgot to clip knock sensor together 🤦🏼˟♀️ what a mission that was! Clipped it together, realised fuel was leaking from injectors. Fixed that issue. Turning it over and just cranks and cranks backfires slightly with little puffs of white smoke out of exhaust. Checked air flow meter and pins had burnt so replacing today. Have tried turning dizzy 180, didnt make a difference. Dizzy leads are all correct to diagram, has spark and fuel, not sure what else it could be, did error codes and came up with tps and o2 sensor, but shouldn't make a difference to it not starting as we can adjust tps???

Someone help before I give up and scrap it 😂😂😂

You need to check and verify your mechanical timing. Sounds like your timing is wrong. Easy way to test this is compression test. Or pull the timing cover and verify timing marks.

Yeah that's next thing to look at, we have just pulled fuel lines of tank (2 lines) and there was no fuel in them, so no fuel going to motor?

Before you pull fuel lines (oh, I''m too late), test your fuel flow the easy way. Replace the fuel return line from the FPR with a 6mm vinyl hose to a suitable container. Jumpering FP to B+ will force the fuel pump to run with key on. (you should be able to hear the pump) I get about 1/2 liter/min. If you get no fuel, your problem is that-a-way.

Have done that. We are getting fuel now. Pull cam cover off now to check timing. Anyone know what they run off, dizzy wise is it #1?

Triple check the distributor is in the correct position and that the firing order is good.
