Hi All at Yota Tech. I work on and drive one my Series 11A Land Rovers. The drivable Projecton is a 1969 Series 11A SWB and The Garage project is a 1968 109 Series 11A pickup that I converted too a 3 door Station wagon. I joined this site because there are a bunch of guys doing VW ALH TDI Diesel swaps into their Toyota truck. I am about halfway done with a ALH TDI too a R380/L230 Defender Transmission conversion.
I have just boxed up my scrapped 2002 Jetta TDI wiring harness that I will be sending to Sal at S&P automotiveto make up a new harness for the 88 SWB 1969 Landy. So far the conversion is working out. It is the harness that needs to be done. Then the engine mountings and also the transmission mountings. The length of the drive shafts will have to done after the motor and tranny are in place.
Mods too the 88 so far. are ARB air lockers front and back with 4.1 gears from GBR in Salt lake City. The axles are from a '97 LR Discovery with spring perch modification to sit on the Parabolic springs in the truck. These axls give the truck disc brakes all round making the brakes 300% better than the drum brakes it had. The axles ar 4 inches wider than the original axles which also gives a better turning circle. The parabolics give a softer ride just a little better than the OME springs. This was taken in PA. I live in Florida now. The question I have for the ALH conversion guys is what do you do about the water ingress into the bellhousing and clutch area
.
75 views and not one answered the question at the end. I guess the guys doing the VW ALH diesel convertion are not concerned with water getting into the bell housing. Ok anybody who has done the VW ALH TDI diesel conversion please let me know what you did about the oil pan at the back where the pan connects to the Yota pickup/4Runner transmission bellhousing
Hello there! Fast presentation, my name is Imprint. I'm 31, hitched for a long time, two children (two young men, one is 2, the other is 3 months), I live in Iowa, I'm a partner minister/head at my congregation, and I need an interest! Haha. I've thought about the Flitetest YouTube channel for about a year or somewhere in the vicinity (my first presentation to the channel was the flying comfortable roadster! Still one of my top picks! LOL), however I've been observing pretty eagerly for as far back as a multi month. I've generally been ambiguously inspired by RC planes, yet viewing the enjoyment the Flitetest group has truly put me over the edge and caused me to choose to begin seeking after this interest. Anyway, simply needed to present myself and thank all of you at Flitetest and in the network for making this superb asset for newbs such as myself to connect to! To the extent my inquiry... what are the economical things (<$40) I have to begin that I can put on my kin present trade Christmas list? I plan on going the DIY course. All I have on the rundown is a heated glue firearm and servo analyzer (is that even important at the present time?) up until this point. Haha. I plan on doing the Little Coach with power pack A for my first plane. So shouldn't something be said about batteries? Charger? I don't even truly realize what to request now. Much obliged ahead of time!
What?!?!?!
I can't follow what you are saying, and can't see how it relates to the thread.....
Good day I'm a new to this site, I'm currently working on rebuilding 1.9 tdi to go in 1994 toyota pickup everything is all there to install to the factory transmission. Interesting enough the stock front axle limits you with stock oil pan however there is enough for to sit in there nicely. Now I have modified my pan to hold more oil not a lot,it is a tight fit like 1/8 inch of space. A lot people are making mistakes on not knowing weak spots on these engines. You must stud the mains and head. You must modify the crankshaft, intermediate shaft that drives the oil pump. And you can't over boost these engines they will not last. Now I am planning on turbo/ supercharging mine and not exceed 20 lb of boost. You also need to cool the oil as well stock arrangement will not last.i have seen a couple of arrangements that work however I'm exploring my own idea nothing set in stone. I'm happy to answer more questions
